MAX-Efficiency is a premium ergonomic polyurethane-on-aluminum wheel line designed to reduce the force required to initiate roll and reduce fatigue on workers. These wheels were formulated to push easier, last longer, and protect people, floors, and equipment in demanding industrial environments.
What makes MAX-Efficiency different?
-
Engineered tread + core. A high-performance polyurethane tread (85A durometer) is chemically and mechanically bonded to a precision aluminum core. This pairing delivers low rolling resistance and excellent durability while keeping wheel weight low.
-
Sealed precision ball bearings. Standard in these wheels for quiet, maintenance-free rolling and lower push/pull forces.
-
Round tread profile and formulation. Reduces initial and sustained rolling resistance and helps the wheel “roll over” floor imperfections. The engineered formulation also creates a lively wheel, that returns energy into the wheel as it rolls.
-
Debris rejection & floor protection. The tread resists picking up chips and shavings, runs quietly, and is highly floor-protective.
-
Broad operating window. Rated -40°F to +180°F, ideal for industrial applications.
-
Sizes & capacities. Common sizes include 4”, 5”, 6”, 8” and 10”×2” with typical manual-rated capacities from ~800 to 2,000 lb per caster (size dependent). There is also a new 1.25” wide release, coming soon, in 3”, 4”, and 5” wheel diameters to deliver the same benefits to smaller pick carts and mobile equipment (popular with leading e-comm businesses and robotics makers).
Proven ergonomic & durability gains
Independent tests run to ANSI ICWM standards show MAX-Efficiency wheels deliver the max:
-
Requires ~26% less force to initiate rolling vs. a leading competitor, and
-
Delivers more than 2× the dynamic life in comparative testing.
(Testing to ANSI ICWM sections 6.3 and 6.9; results vary by size, equipment, load balance, and conditions.)
Why operators feel the difference
Lower push forces come from the combination of the engineered round-profile, the unique polyurethane blend, and high-quality sealed precision bearings. In practice, that means easier starts, smoother steering, and less strain through long shifts—especially when paired with ergonomic rigs.
Pairing the wheel with the right rig (Spec Tips)
MAX-Efficiency wheels are available across multiple caster series, so you can match the rig to your environment:
-
Standard kingpin rig casters – the most economical solution, combines a standard kingpin rig with a highly ergonomic MAX-Efficiency wheel. Utilize our USA-made swivel rigs to ensure durability – they feature a ¾" kingpin (the component that holds the rig together) versus the rest of the market that uses a 5/8” kingpin and are often imported from Asia.
-
Kingpinless heavy-duty rigs (110/115/170/310). Built to absorb shock and impact superior to kingpin casters, kingpinless rigs eliminate the potential for kingpin failure (one of the most common failure points). These are a go-to for rugged applications where ergonomics are also important. They will add ~25% additional ergonomic benefit compared to a traditional kingpin rig due to their precision raceway construction.
-
Maintenance-Free rig casters – leveraging industrial-grade, sealed precision ball bearings as the raceway, maintenance-free solutions significantly reduce steering effort and eliminate maintenance needs. They are ideal for manual push/towing where uptime and ergonomics matter most. They are also the quietest option of all casters. They will improve ergonomic benefits another ~15% over kingpinless rig solutions.
-
Spring-loaded (141 Series). A polyurethane internal spring isolates vibration and shock, protecting loads, floors, and operators—popular in automotive and GSE. These solutions leverage a kingpinless design, but are also available in kingpin versions as well. The spring-loaded design does reduce ergonomic benefits, but does provide equipment protection.
Tip: If your carts see repeated impacts, dock plates, or towing, prioritize kingpinless rigs. If you are towing or need easy maneuvering, consider specifying the rigs with extended leads for easier steering. Extended lead, industrial-grade, maintenance-free rigs will maximize ergonomic benefits for manually pushed or towed applications; a standard lead maintenance-free rig is also available for manually pushed applications.
Applications Where MAX-Efficiency Shines
-
Manufacturing & assembly carts that move frequently between cells, production lines, or stocking locations (quiet, low push force, long life).
-
Warehouse & lineside dollies/tuggers where easy starts and smooth tracking reduce cycle time and fatigue.
-
Towline carts / AGV & AMR trailers (with the right rig), especially in automotive and aviation environments.
-
Facilities that need a floor-protective, debris-resistant, quiet wheel.

Real Benefits for Your Operation
-
Less injuries and greater productivity. Less force to start and steer reduces operator injuries and helps employees sustain pace throughout their day. (26% reduction in start force in standardized tests.)
-
Less downtime & lower total cost. The wheel’s dynamic life tested at >2× the leading competitor in the lab—meaning fewer changeouts and less maintenance time. Your dollars will last longer.
-
Cleaner, quieter floors. Debris rejection plus a resilient tread translates into fewer stoppages and lower noise exposure. Picking up debris also ruins paint and tape lines, plus creates unwanted noise.
-
Size options – a leading range to chose from. From 3” – 10” diameters, multiple rigs (maintenance-free, kingpinless, spring-loaded, dual-wheel), and options like brakes or swivel locks.

Selection checklist
-
Application & environment considerations: manual push vs. tow; floor condition; shock/impact exposure. Choose maintenance-free for pure ergonomics, kingpinless for shock and impact, spring-loaded for vibration-sensitive loads, kingpin for most economical.
-
Load & size: pick diameter/width to cover worst-case loads with margin (see size/capacity tables in the data sheet). Ergonomic helper: the larger the wheel, the easier it rolls.
-
Noise & floor care: MAX-Efficiency’s quiet, floor-friendly tread is highly versatile. The sealed precision ball bearings are maintenance-free for life and deliver smooth, quiet mobility. You will notice the difference.
-
Options: brakes, swivel locks, and special leads are available to create the perfect solution for maneuverability and safety.
Bottom line
MAX-Efficiency wheels deliver industry-leading ergonomics, long life, and floor protection—helping operations move more with less effort, less noise, and less downtime.
